Terms of Hire

Hirers/drivers must be over 21 years of age and under the age of 76. 
They must have held a full driving licence for at least 24 months.
If under 25 years of age must have been involved in no accidents in the last 12 months.

Endorsements

Age 21 to 22 must not have any endorsements.
Age 23 to 24 only 1 minor conviction (3 points) in last 3 years.
Age 25 and above a maximum of 2 x SP30’s is acceptable.

  • Mini Buses over 3,500kgs require a D1 Licence category
  • Vans over 3,500kgs require a C1 Licence category

Please Note

From 8 June 2015, the paper counterpart to the UK photocard driving licence is not valid and will no longer be issued by the DVLA and, whilst they will still be valid, “old style” UK paper-based licences will no longer be annotated with endorsements. With effect from this date, any UK driving licence holders hiring a vehicle should ideally use “Share My Driving Licence”, the new online service from the DVLA, for validation of their driving record.

To view and create a one-time passcode the driver should visit gov.uk here where s/he will be asked to submit their:
  • Driving licence number
  • National insurance number
  • Postcode

The passcode, which will be valid for a maximum period of 21 days from the point it is generated, must be presented and still be valid when picking up any rental vehicle. Any drivers unable to obtain a passcode should call the DVLA Customer Contact Centre on 0300 083 0013 (Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm). 

Or alternatively we can process this information at the time of hire commencement, the above information will still be required to access the DVLA data and if not provided upon request we will be unable to proceed with the vehicle hire.

Hire car

Identification Required

Additional identification is required to accompany your driving licence. You must provide a valid passport or either a household utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months and matches the address held on your driving licence. This also applies to any additional drivers.

Additional Information 

Prices shown represent standard hire bookings with insurance for one driver only, excluding VAT. 


Whilst every effort will be made to allocate the vehicle you have requested we cannot guarantee the exact specification as manufacturers continually update their products. We will of course guarantee the minimum size of vehicle you have selected and will offer a free upgrade, if required, due to availability issues. 


There is a security deposit of £500-£1000 required upon collection of the vehicle that will be refunded upon safe return of our vehicle. This must be done on either a debit or credit card, we no longer offer cash deposits.


You are not permitted to smoke or vape in a hire vehicle provided under this agreement. A charge of £120.00 plus VAT will be applied where any rental vehicle is returned and it is established has been smoked or vaped in. This charge is separate and in addition to any charge applied due to damage caused by smoking or vaping in a rental vehicle i.e. cigarette burns.


Customers must refuel the vehicle to the fuel level at the commencement of the hire, prior to its return. Where this does not happen, Lodge Van & Car Hire will apply a Minimum charge of £30.00 to refuel the vehicle. It is one price irrespective of commodity i.e. petrol or diesel.


Cancellations


If you cancel 48 hours or more before your collection date then we can offer a full refund, if the booking is cancelled within 48 hours we cannot offer a refund however we will place a credit on your account which can be used to rebook.
